Meet Teneasha Washington

Washington has had the privilege of working in the rare disease space for more than five

years in a variety of capacities to include identifying contributing factors to low participation in patient registries, and more recently around diversity, equity, and inclusion challenges within the rare disease space more broadly. She enjoys the many opportunities to engage with patients, caregivers, and others who diligently work towards shared goals. She is the Founder of The Washington Group, a consulting agency that focuses on addressing client’s needs in a variety of specialty areas.

Her research within academia is focused on fostering effective community engagement strategies within disadvantaged communities among individuals with disabilities and rare diseases. She serves as an assistant professor in the UAB School of Public Health where she enjoys teaching undergraduate and graduate students on community organizing, social and behavioral sciences, intervention development, and research methods.
